The Tug Information

The Tug is the result of a visit to the wonderful 18" gauge Steeple Grange Light Railway. Spending a day with the diesel workhorses on that line led to the development of our own narrow gauge workhorse which we just had to call The Tug. All Steel construction powder coated in customer choice of colour along with a pair of 1 Hp motors controlled by a 180amp digital controller. Being a ride-on loco with space for two big batteries at the front and additional storage for biscuits and other essentials under the seat (which can be fitted in right or left-hand configuration)the Tug makes a nice compact solution for the garden railway and is equally at home performing passenger hauling duties at the club track. A mechanical handbrake is fitted at the rear of the loco and the standard 12v headlight ensures there will be light before the end of the tunnel.

For internal combustion engine enthusiasts we have also added an unpowered version to the TUG range. This will enable builders to add their own diesel or petrol engine to the loco.

The Tug is also available in 10¼” gauge.
